TK2 JUNIOR PLAYER´S MASK

The TK2 face mask is specifically designed to protect young players defending penalty corners. Unlike other protective equipment, field-player penalty corner face protectors are not currently covered by the European Standard EN 13546, creating a gap in regulatory guidance. To address this, the International Hockey Federation (FIH) sponsored a research initiative at Loughborough University, which led to a published study now forming the basis of the FIH's current recommendations.

 

Based on this research, the FIH has established two performance categories for face masks:

 

Category 1:

 

Masks were tested by firing a hockey ball at a speed of 80 mph (128 km/h) directly at the mask. They met all criteria regarding fit, facial coverage, mechanical resistance, and impact protection. These masks are suitable for all levels of play, including elite competition.

 

 

Masks tested at 60 mph (96 km/h) also met all key performance criteria and are considered suitable for lower levels of play, such as junior hockey.

 

All masks awarded the "FIH Recommended" designation have successfully passed these rigorous tests and are produced by manufacturers participating in the FIH Quality Programme. Category 1 masks are also approved for Category 2 use, ensuring comprehensive protection across age groups and skill levels.
